Our Story
Tracy Gomez and Jennifer Grunwald have both had their
lives impacted by cancer. Both are people of action, not
comfortable standing by waiting for someone else to make
positive changes.
On her journey with breast cancer, a close friend and client
of Tracy’s asked if she would accompany her to a wig and
breast prosthesis fitting. When they arrived at the
establishment for the appointment, Tracy noticed that
something was missing—the fitter was professional in
mannerism, light hearted in demeanor. However, the
environment lacked the comfort and hope she expected for
her friend who had just won back another chance at life.
That night, Tracy’s mind kept wandering back to the
experience. She was struggling to find a way to make a
difference in her friend’s life and in the lives of every woman
who must endure the challenge of cancer.
The next day, Tracy was back to work. Her friend and client,
Jennifer, was the first person she saw that day. Tracy talked
with Jennifer about her experiences from the previous day,
sharing with her a desire for a better solution, a more
encouraging way of attending to the needs of oncology
survivors.
Jennifer had been through her own life shaping experiences
with her mother-in-law: chemotherapy treatments and the
emotional drain that comes from a daily battle for life. She
was present for the ups and downs. Jennifer was supportive
through her mother-in-law’s hair loss and nausea, especially
the days she did not want to get out of bed. A seed grew in
Jennifer’s heart; she desired more comforting and
understanding care for the fragile side of humanity.
As Tracy expressed her own desires to provide a more
sensitive and uplifting experience for cancer survivors,
Jennifer was moved to volunteer. Together, they would
reach out to a community of women in need of care and
encouragement at a very unique time in their lives.
The heart-felt dream of these two women came to life in the
form of All About You – a Cancer Recovery Boutique. With
their talented team the salon front offers women a chance to
have some fun while being pampered and celebrating their
beauty. While the recovery service areas tend to the
special needs of cancer survivors.
